Quick Summary
With Hola Car Rentals, time & mileage are always included in your rate. All itineraries include unlimited mileage.
Time = the length of the rental (days/hours). Mileage = the distance you drive.
Taxes & fees are separate from the time & mileage allowance. They may be included in your prepaid price or due at pick-up, depending on the rate shown on your confirmation.
Definitions.
Rental day: A 24-hour period starting at your pickup time (e.g., 10:00 → 10:00 the next day). Any extra time may incur hourly or daily charges and late-return fees under the rental agreement. Even if your drop-off is less than 24 hours after pickup (e.g., 10:00 → 10:30 the next day), the additional time counts as a full day and will be charged as such.
Mileage:
Unlimited (All Hola rates): no per-mile charges.
What Hola Includes by Default
Time: the number of days you booked (extensions will be billed locally if approved).
Mileage: always unlimited.
What this means: you won’t pay extra just for driving more miles on unlimited-mileage rates; you only pay for optional extras, extensions/late return.
Taxes & Fees vs. Time & Mileage (important distinction)
Included allowance (time/mileage) ≠ government/airport taxes & fees. Authorities and airports may tax:
The base time charge (your daily rate)
Any extra time (added hours/days)
Optional items you choose (extra driver, equipment, premium roadside, one-way, etc.)
Your confirmation will state either:
“Taxes & Fees: Included” → already covered in your prepaid amount, or
“To pay at destination” → payable locally at the destination (amount may vary by location and currency).
Security deposits/holds are not taxes or fees; they’re refundable card authorizations per partner policy.
Examples (illustrative)
Unlimited mileage, taxes included: You prepaid $399. Taxes & fees are Included → $0 due locally for mandatory taxes/fees; unlimited miles at no extra cost.
Unlimited mileage, taxes due locally: You prepaid $329. Confirmation shows To pay at destination: $92 → you pay those locally; still no per-mile charges.
(Exact prices/limits are shown on your confirmation and the rental agreement.)
Conditions & Limits (read carefully)
Return time matters: grace periods vary; late returns can trigger extra hour/day charges (taxable).
Geographic rules: crossing borders or driving in restricted regions may not be allowed and can affect charges or coverage.
Odometer integrity: tampering/failed readings can lead to administrative charges.
Unit of measure: some locations display kilometers; allowances apply equivalently (km vs. miles) as stated on your paperwork.
Common Mistakes (and how to avoid them)
Assuming prepaid = all taxes paid: verify Included vs To pay at destination on your confirmation.
Ignoring pick-up/return times: even 1–2 extra hours can bill as an extra day in some locations.
Confusing deposit with taxes: the card hold isn’t a tax/fee and is normally refundable.
Short FAQ
Is mileage always unlimited with Hola?
Yes. Mileage is always unlimited with Hola Car Rentals and all the partners we work with.
Do I pay tax on unlimited miles?
There’s no per-mile tax when mileage is unlimited, but the time (daily rate) is usually subject to local taxes/fees. Extra time or optional items are also typically taxed.
If I extend my rental, do taxes change?
Yes—extra time is billed locally and taxed per local rules.
Does returning early reduce taxes?
Early returns will not result in a refund for the remaining rental period. Please note this in case you need to return the vehicle earlier than expected.
